Equality Objectives
Our Commitment
At Manor Primary School & Nursery, we are proud of our diverse, inclusive and welcoming community. We believe that every child, family, member of staff and visitor should feel valued, respected and that they belong.
As part of GLF Schools, we are committed to creating a culture where diversity is celebrated, discrimination is not tolerated, and everyone is treated fairly and with dignity. We recognise that our differences make us stronger and enrich the experiences of all members of our school community.
Our school community reflects a rich range of cultures, languages, faiths, beliefs, experiences and backgrounds. We actively celebrate this diversity and strive to ensure that every pupil sees themselves represented within school life whilst also developing an understanding and appreciation of others.
Our Vision
At Manor Primary School & Nursery, we believe that equality, diversity and inclusion are fundamental to helping all children flourish. We are committed to removing barriers to learning and participation so that every child can achieve their full potential.
Through our curriculum, values and everyday interactions, we encourage pupils to:
- Respect and celebrate difference.
- Develop empathy and understanding for others.
- Challenge stereotypes and discrimination.
- Value their own identity and the identities of others.
- Become responsible citizens who contribute positively to society.
Our values of Ready, Respectful and Safe underpin this work. We want all members of our community to feel safe to be themselves, respectful of the experiences and perspectives of others, and ready to engage positively with the diverse world around them.
Equality and the Law
We are committed to meeting our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and ensuring that no individual is disadvantaged, discriminated against or treated less favourably because of a protected characteristic.
These protected characteristics are:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Marriage and civil partnership
- Pregnancy and maternity
- Race
- Religion or belief
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
We work to:
- Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
- Advance equality of opportunity for all.
- Foster good relations between different groups within our school and wider community.
Celebrating Diversity at Manor
We recognise that diversity exists both between and within communities. Through our curriculum and wider school experiences, pupils learn about different cultures, faiths, worldviews, family structures and lived experiences. We seek to provide children with opportunities to see themselves reflected in what they learn, whilst also opening windows into the lives and experiences of others.
We are proud of our inclusive ethos and are committed to ensuring that every child feels a sense of belonging and is supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
