Safeguarding and Child Protection
At Manor Primary School & Nursery, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone's responsibility. We are committed to creating a culture where children feel safe, valued, respected and listened to. We expect all staff, volunteers, governors and visitors to share this commitment and to work together to ensure that every child is protected from harm.
Our safeguarding culture is underpinned by the principle that the best interests of the child are paramount. We recognise that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility and that all adults in school have a duty to identify concerns, respond appropriately and take action to protect children from abuse, neglect, exploitation and harm. We are committed to working proactively with children, families and external agencies to ensure that pupils receive the right support at the right time.
The school has comprehensive safeguarding and child protection procedures in place, which are set out in our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, available on our website. All staff receive regular safeguarding training and are required to follow the latest statutory safeguarding guidance.
Where concerns arise regarding a child's welfare, we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies to help safeguard and support the child. Wherever appropriate, we will discuss concerns with parents and carers; however, there may be circumstances where doing so could place a child at increased risk of harm. In such cases, we have a duty to act in the child's best interests and seek advice from, or make referrals to, relevant safeguarding agencies.
We recognise that safeguarding concerns can take many forms, including neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, child-on-child abuse, online safety concerns, exploitation, mental health concerns and domestic abuse. We are particularly mindful of the impact that domestic abuse can have on children and families. Children may be affected directly or indirectly by domestic abuse, and we understand that both victims and witnesses can often find it difficult to seek help.

Alternatively, you are welcome to speak to a member of our safeguarding team, who will listen, offer support and, where appropriate, help families access additional services. Any concerns raised will be handled sensitively and in line with our safeguarding responsibilities.
If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please contact a member of our Designated Safeguarding Team without delay. Safeguarding concerns are always taken seriously and acted upon appropriately.
