PE & Sport Premium

Schools receive PE and sport premium funding based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6. This funding must be used to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of physical education (PE), school sport and physical activity that we offer.

We use the premium to:

  • Develop or enhance the PE, sport and physical activity opportunities available to pupils.
  • Build capacity and capability within the school to ensure improvements are sustainable and continue to benefit future pupils.
  • Support all pupils to lead healthy, active lives and develop positive attitudes towards lifelong participation in physical activity.

There are five key areas in which schools should demonstrate improvement:

  • The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity. The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend that children and young people participate in at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day.
  • The profile of PE, sport and physical activity being raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement.
  • Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport.
  • A broader experience of a range of sports and physical activities offered to all pupils.
  • Increased participation in competitive sport.

At Manor Primary School & Nursery, we use our PE and sport premium funding to improve pupils' physical health, wellbeing, personal development and enjoyment of physical activity. We aim to ensure that all children can achieve and thrive through participation in PE, sport and active lifestyles, regardless of their background, ability or starting point.

As part of the funding requirements, schools must publish details of how the funding is spent and evaluate its impact on pupil outcomes.
